Annual and Multi-Year Participation Programs
Students Program participation enrollment is on an annual or a multi-year basis. Annual programs require students to qualify each academic year, meaning the data does not roll over into the next academic year. Multi-year programs require students to only qualify once. Once enrolled, the data then rolls over each academic year until the student exits the district, or when they no longer participate in the program.
Use this table for reference about annual vs multi-year programs:

Student Participation Program Enrollment
While each participation program has its own data requirements, they all require effective dates and exit dates. Some also require placement reasons when the program enrollment is created and exit reasons when the enrollment is exited.
Here are the definitions of these fields:
- Placement reason: Evidence used to determine student participation in the program
- Effective date: The first date when the student qualifies for the program
- Exit date. The last date when the student participates in the program
- Exit Reason: Reason for ending participation in the program
Below is a sample lunch program enrollment in SchoolInsight:
Handling Multiple Program Entries and Exits
Program history in an academic year should be preserved. Therefore, multiple entries and exits will result in multiple entries. For example, the student below qualified for the Homeless program for a period of time, was exited, and then re-enrolled later in the same year. In this case, we’ll add a new row instead of updating the existing entry:
