This article guides Oklahoma admins when these fields need to be filled in SchoolInsight:
- Indian Education Program
- Tribal Citizenship
- Tribal Affiliation
A student requires Indian Education Program entry if they have:
- Completed form 506, participates in the Johnson O’Malley program, or both
- Self-Identified tribal affiliation
When this happens, you need to do the following:
- Update the Indian Education Participation Program
- (Optional) Update the Tribal Citizenship and Tribal Affiliation
Indian Education Participation Program
The Indian Education Program is considered a multi-year program. This means a student is enrolled once in the program until they exit the district; consequently, a program exit date is only required when a student exits the district.
To enter Indian Education program participation data:
- Go to School Main > Student Single View (beta)
- Search and select a student
- Go to General > Miscellaneous
- Edit Misc Info
- Find Indian Education
- Enter the Placement Reason and Effective Date
- Save
Tribal Citizenship and Tribal Affiliation
Enter Tribal Citizenship data if you have form 506 to prove a student’s Native American Heritage; otherwise, do not select anything for tribal citizenship. Tribal Affiliation data is entered when there is no Form 506 to prove tribal citizenship. A student cannot have tribal citizenship and tribal affiliation to the same tribe. To enter Tribal Citizenship and Affiliation data:
- Go to School Main > Student Single View (beta)
- Search for a student
- Go to General > Miscellaneous
- Edit Misc Info
- Find Tribal Affiliation and select a value
- Find Tribal Citizenship and select value
- Save
