Oklahoma schools are required to track all students’ lunch programs. This data is sent to the Wave throughout the year, and determines prices in the lunch and online registration modules.
Before getting started, it’s important to note that all students are required to have a lunch program status of free, reduced or none entered along with the effective date and placement reason. The lunch program history should also be preserved. If an existing lunch program is changing, a new entry should be created with the updated information.
For example, the student below had a reduced price status that will switch to free in January. Add a new entry instead of deleting the existing entry as displayed below.
This will retain the student’s lunch program history and ensure the student is charged the correct amount before and after the change. Additionally, it reports the correct program data to the Wave.

Editing a single student’s lunch program entry
Student lunch program data may change throughout the year. If a change is required for a single student, edit the student’s data individually.
- Go to Main > Student - Single View (beta)
- Search for the student
- Go to General Demographics
- Click the pencil icon
to edit the Demographics section
- Select the student’s Lunch Program
- Enter the lunch program Effective Date
- Select the Direct Certified indicator
- Select a Placement Reason
- Save
Oklahoma schools are also required to enter in the Lunch Eligibility Determination.
- Go to Main > Student - Single View (Beta)
- Search for the student
- Edit the student
- Select a value for Lunch Eligibility Determination
- Save
Mass Adding student lunch program entries
Use the Mass Add student lunch program mode to quickly assign the same lunch program data to many students. This is helpful if schools manage FRLA on paper and need to update many statuses at once. A new entry will only be created as long as the effective date is different from the current one. To edit an existing entry, use the mass edit mode instead.
To mass add student lunch programs:
- Go to School Main > Lunch > Student Lunch Program
- Mode > Mass Add
- Under Data to Add
- Select a Lunch Program
- Enter a different Effective Date
- Select a Direct Certified status
- Select a Placement Reason
- Select your students
- Save
If the student has multiple entries, click on the + next to the student’s name to expand and view details of all the student’s lunch program data.
Mass Editing student lunch program entries
This is helpful if the wrong lunch program data was originally entered and an update is required on many students. If a student has multiple entities, each entry will appear in a separate row. The new information must have a different effective date and the edit must be done in sequential order.
To mass add student lunch programs:
- Go to School Main > Lunch > Student Lunch Program
- Mode > Mass Edit
- Under Data to Add
- Select a Lunch Program
- Enter a different Effective Date
- Select a Direct Certified status
- Select a Placement Reason
- Select your students
- Save
