This article discusses how to copy learning targets from one course to another, within the same academic year. If you are looking for information about how to copy learning targets from one academic year to the next, see How do I roll over learning targets to the next academic year?
When learning targets are admin-managed, there are two methods that may be used to copy learning targets:
On the other hand, when learning targets are instructor-managed, see How do I use instructor-managed learning targets?
SBL Groups
If you have two courses that use the exact same learning targets, you can add them to the same SBL Group. The benefit of adding courses to the same SBL course is that when courses are in the same SBL group, the learning targets are shared. Therefore, editing learning targets in one course also affects the other course(s) in the group.
If you just want to copy the learning targets once but then make adjustments to one course without affecting the other(s), you can add them to the same SBL Group, then break up the courses. Adding them to the same SBL group will cause the courses to share learning targets. When the courses are split into separate groups, each course will have its own copy of the same learning targets that can be edited individually.
