SchoolInsight not only allows you to manage lunch for the benefit of your school staff, but allows you to communicate your lunch options easily with students and parents. By using the lunch module, you can share your daily food menu on the parent portals. You can easily create a menu for lunch or other meals and copy menus to reduce labor.

After your initial lunch setup is complete, you may begin creating lunch menus. Sets of weekly menus may then be copied forward. Finally, you can share the menus with students and parents.
Create a Lunch Menu
Admins should start by creating a set of lunch menus for a particular week of the year. Then, they can decide if they’d like to copy it forward or continue constructing weeks of menus manually.
Admins have the ability to vary their lunch menus in the following three ways:
- Meal Type
- For example, you may have different menus for Breakfast or Lunch.
- Date
- Each calendar date may have its own unique menu.
- School Building (Multi-school districts only)
- Every building may have its own set of lunch menus.
To create a lunch menu:
- Go to Admin Main > Lunch > Menus
- Select a Meal
- Select a Month
- Edit
- Type the menu items for the desired date or dates
- Save
The Meal filter is set to display all menus in this image. As you can see, there are separate menus for both Breakfast and Lunch displayed simultaneously.
Copy Menus
The manual entry process allows admins to enter menus for a single date at a time. The time to enter these menus can be quite extensive when considering each calendar date of the entire academic year!
To help speed up the entry process, SchoolInsight allows admins to copy a week of menus onto other weeks within the same school or copy weeks of menus between schools.
Copy Week To
- Go to Admin Main > Lunch > Menus
- Select a Meal
- Select a Month
- Copy Week
- In the Copy Week From table, select a week whose menu you’d like to copy by selecting the radial button under the Copy? Column
- Check the box next to weeks under the Copy Week To column to copy the menu onto those weeks of the year
- (Optional) Check the box to overwrite existing menus if you’d like to overwrite a previous menu with the new copy
- Copy
Copy to Other School(s)
Similar to the weekly copy tool, admins have the ability to copy menus between schools. Menus may only be copied to schools that have a meal created of the exact same name.
- Go to Admin Main > Lunch > Menus
- Select a Meal
- Select a Month
- Copy to Other School(s)
- Select a Timeframe of menus to copy
- (Optional) Check the box to overwrite existing menus if you’d like to overwrite a previous menu with the new copy
- Check the boxes of schools to Copy Menu to
- Copy
Share Menus with Students and Parents
Menus can also be made available to students and parents. Admins will have to enable this permission at each school they’d like to share the menus for:
- Go to Admin Main > Options > Parent Information Access
- Edit Parent Information Access
- Check the box for Meal Menu
- Save
Now, students or parents may access the menus with the following steps:
- Login to TeacherEase.com
- Go to Miscellaneous > Menus
