With their many duties, instructors can forget to take attendance. This can be very disruptive to school operations. We currently support instructor attendance through the TeacherEase mobile app. With Instructor Attendance Notifications, admins may enable a push notification reminder to greatly increase the percentage of attendance taken on time by instructors. At a high level, admins can set a deadline, and if instructors haven’t completed attendance by the deadline, TeacherEase will notify them.
We recommend you invite instructors to use the mobile app by sending them an invite from TeacherEase. TeacherEase App notifications are the most successful method for reminding teachers to take attendance. If the school district is using SchoolInsight Financials, instructors who have taken a sick day, or other time off, will not receive notifications for those days. This option helps reduce noise and annoyance.
The setup instructions will differ between Self-Contained and Secondary Attendance modes. If you are unsure of your attendance mode, you can review what it is at the school via Admin Main > Attendance > Options. After you check the attendance mode follow the instructions that apply to your school:

Admins Enable Reminders (Self-Contained)
To enable reminders in the self-contained mode, the admin needs to set a deadline for entering period attendance. The deadline should be the time by which instructors must take attendance each day. Those who have not taken attendance by the deadline will receive a reminder (app notification).
To set a deadline for instructor attendance notifications in self-contained attendance mode:
- Go to Admin Main > Attendance > Options
- Edit
- Check the box Send Instructors an Attendance Reminder
- Set a Period Attendance Deadline (all time entries should include “am” or “pm”)
- Save
Admins Enable Reminders (Secondary)
To enable reminders in secondary attendance mode, the admin needs to set a window for entering period attendance. The period attendance window refers to the number of minutes the instructors have at the beginning of each period to take attendance. If attendance has not been taken within that time period, a reminder (app notification) will be sent.
To set a window for instructor attendance notifications in secondary attendance mode:
- Go to Admin Main > Attendance > Options
- Edit
- Check the box Send Instructors an Attendance Reminder
- Set a Period Attendance Window (this value is in minutes)
- Save
Instructors Are Notified
If instructors have not entered attendance by the established deadline (a set clock time for Self-Contained or a minute window for Secondary), they will receive a notification via the mobile app. The notifications will provide a link directly to where the instructors can take attendance for the period they missed. The instructor clicks the link, the app opens on the period attendance page, and the teacher enters attendance in a streamlined manner.

Instructors who either don’t use the mobile app or haven’t had a chance to look at their phone will see a News Feed update in the Instructor Main page upon logging in on a desktop.
