This article discusses common errors you may see when running the Missouri Student Information System (MOSIS) June Cycle Student Course Completion export.
The most common errors are as follows:
- Grade Earned must be A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C-, D+, D, D-, F, PS, FL, IC, NC, or WD
- MOSIS course credit type is required
Grade Earned must be A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C-, D+, D, D-, F, PS, FL, IC, NC, or WD
This error occurs if the student does not have a report card grade for the specified class. If you are running this report before you open up final report cards, it is expected to see this message.
Once final report cards are open, you can see which students are missing grades by running the Missing Report Card Grades report. Once grades are entered, they will disappear from the report, and the error will be resolved.
To determine if the student has a report card grade:
- Go to School Main > Grade Reporting > Missing Report Card Grade
- Select which Report Card grading period
- Select which Student(s) to display
- Generate
From here, you can see which students are missing grades, along with what classes they are missing grades in. If the teacher is unable to enter a grade for an individual student, you can enter in grades from this location on their behalf.
To enter a grade from the Missing Report Card Grades page:
- Select view on the missing report card grade
- Select edit on the grading period missing the grade
- Select the grade
- Save
MOSIS course credit type is required
This error occurs due to the field MOSIS Course Credit Type. The field MOSIS Course Credit Type refers to if a student, when taking computer science, is getting a math or science credit. The error pops up if the course the student’s class is tied to is missing the field MOSIS Course Credit Type.
To fix these errors, mass edit MOSIS Course Credit Type. If the course is not a computer science course, it should be marked “NA”. If it is a computer science course, you need to mark it “math” or “science” depending on how your district wants to reward credit. Once mass edited, you can manually adjust the few remaining courses missing data.
To mass set MOSIS Course Credit Type:
- Go to School Main > Courses > Courses (Beta)
- Mass Edit
- Set the field MOSIS Course Credit Type
- If you are setting this for non-computer science courses, set the value as NA
- If this is for computer science courses, set the value as either Math or Science (based on your own district policy)
- Select the desired courses
- Save
To set MOSIS Course Credit Type on an individual course
- Go to School Main > Courses > Course - Single View (Beta)
- Search for the desired course
- Select the Scheduling tab
- Hover over the fields and select the
icon to Edit the course
- Set the field MOSIS Course Credit Type
- If you are setting this for non-computer science courses, set the value as NA
- If this is for computer science courses, set the value as either Math or Science (based on your own districts policy)
- Save
