This article explains how to create lessons with learning targets and digital resources as well as how to shift the dates on lessons, if you find that your timeline changes. Before creating a lesson, review your curriculum sharing settings and curriculum options.
There are three ways to create lessons.
Create a New Lesson
Depending on your curriculum options, you can choose to associate lessons within topics or units. This provides an organized view of related lessons that will be taught during a specific time frame. It is recommended to first create your units or topics before creating a lesson.
To create lessons:
- Go to Instructor Main > LMS > Curricula
- Select a Class
- Create Lesson
- Select a Unit
- Click + to select additional Classes
- Enter a Title
- Select whether the lesson will be available Offline vs. Online
- If the lesson will be available online, enter the Dates Available Online
The default learning targets for the lesson will be pre-populated from those assigned on the corresponding unit and will typically already be added to the course by an admin at the school or district level. If your account is not associated with a school, and therefore, you do not have an admin managing your account, you can add learning targets to your classes.
Copy a Single Lesson to Another Date in the Same Class
You may have lessons that repeat from one week to the next or or possibly you just want to copy one lesson to another grading period.
To copy a single lesson to another date in the same class:
- Go to Instructor Main > LMS > Lessons
- Select a Mode
- copy the source lesson
- Add Date - Next Day to copy the lesson to the next school date
- Add Date - Next Week to copy the lesson to the next school week
- Copy Lessons
Sometimes it’s efficient to copy existing lessons and assignments between your classes or to your classes from another teacher who has shared lessons. When copying lessons and assignments, you can copy digital resources as well. These components are referred to as curricula.
