Instructors can add learning targets to units, lessons, and assignments. This helps teachers organize the learning targets available by default to subsequent curricula in the units, lessons, and assignments hierarchy. The default learning targets for the unit will be pre-populated from those assigned on the corresponding course and will typically already be added to the course by an admin at the school or district level..
Unit
Since units are the larger topics of study, instructors will first add all learning targets that will be covered, to the unit. The learning targets that are attached to a unit will provide the default list to select from when lessons and assignments are created for that unit.
To add learning targets to a unit:
- Go to Instructor Main > LMS > Curricula
- Create Unit or edit an existing unit
- Select add learning targets
- Select the learning targets you wish to add or check the top checkbox to select all learning targets
- Add
- Save
Lesson
Lessons are associated with units. Therefore, the learning targets that have been added to a unit will appear as the default selection when creating associated lessons. To select learning targets that have not been added to the unit, deselect the “Only Show Learning Targets for Unit” option in the Add Learning Targets page.
To add learning targets to a lesson via Curricula:
- Go to Instructor Main > LMS > Curricula
- Click on the Unit
- Create Lesson or edit an existing one
- Select add learning targets
- Select the learning targets you wish to add or check the top checkbox to select all learning targets
- Add
- Save
To add learning targets to a lesson via Lessons:
- Go to Instructor Main > LMS > Lessons
- Create or edit an existing lesson
- Select add learning targets
- Select the learning targets you wish to add or check the top checkbox to select all learning targets
- Add

Assignments
Assignments are the bottom tier of the curriculum hierarchy, and as such, the learning targets that have been added to a lesson will appear as the default selection when creating associated assignments. To select learning targets that have not been added to the lesson, deselect the “Only Show Learning Targets for Lesson Plan” option in the Add Learning Targets page.
To add learning targets to an assignment via Curricula:
- Go to Instructor Main > LMS > Curricula
- Create Assignment or expand the curricula tree to Edit an existing one
- Add Learning Targets
- Select the learning targets you wish to add or check the top checkbox to select all learning targets
- Add
- Save
To add learning targets to an assignment via Lessons:
- Go to Instructor Main > LMS > Lessons
- Create assignment in an existing lesson
- Select add learning targets
- Select the learning targets you wish to add or check the top checkbox to select all learning targets
- Add
- Save
To add learning targets to an assignment via Assignments:
- Go to Instructor Main > Gradebook > Assignments
- Create Assignment
- Check Track Standards-based Grade(s)
- Add Learning Targets
- Select the learning targets you wish to add or check the top checkbox to select all learning targets
