In this article, you will learn why you may be seeing the wrong academic year when you first log in to SchoolInsight, if you are a School District Admin; moreover, you will learn how to prevent this from happening.
This typically happens when a school district admin logs in at the school level and goes to the Student Single View or another academic year dependent page, but the year defaults to a previous academic year instead of the current year. This happens to school district admins for one of two reasons:
- The current academic year at the district level is marked as either closed or future while a previous academic year is still active
- The current academic year has not yet been created at the district level
If the year already exists, the District Admin should update the status of the academic years at the district level, which can be done with the following steps:
- Go To District Main > Academic Years
- Hover over the year and click
- Select the appropriate Status
- The current academic year should be Active
- Previous academic years should be Closed
- Upcoming academic years should be Future
- Select Locations to Update (district at minimum)
- Save
If the current academic year does not exist at the district level, but does exist at the school level, the District Admin should create the current year as an active year, as detailed in this article.
