This article explains how to manage the course and report card grade data that populates the OSDE Postsecondary Opportunities Report. The Postsecondary Opportunities Report displays postsecondary credits earned by students enrolled in the following types of courses.
- College prep coursework
- Advanced Placement (AP)
- International Baccalaureate (IB)
- Dual Credit/Concurrent Enrollment courses
- Internships
- Career Tech
Making sure that course data and report card data is entered correctly will ensure that the Postsecondary report is populated and accurate.
Enter Postsecondary Course Data
Update course data to be aligned with the postsecondary reporting requirements. When updating your course data, reference the OCAS Postsecondary Opportunities Guidance for a list of valid postsecondary course names and codes.
To update course data:
- Go to Main > Courses > Course - Single View
- Search and select a course
- Edit

General Tab
- Number of Grading Periods: Enter the number of grading periods for which the course is scheduled

State Data Tab
- State Number: Enter the OCAS Postsecondary Opportunities Guidance
- Instructional Level: Refer to the instructional level table
- Save
Enter and finalize report card grades
Report card grades will be sent to the Wave only when they are in “Ready to Print” status.
How does an instructor enter report card grades?
Note that in the above instructions, there is an option to check These report card grades are ready to be printed. The box must be checked for grades to be sent to the Wave
When the above box is checked, the class report card status changes to Ready to Print.
Teachers can see class grade reporting status by navigating to:
- Instructor Main > Tools > Report Cards (Classic)
- Click classes in the right hand column next to a grading period
In the below example, grades for GOVERNMENT would not be sent to the Wave whereas grades for WORLD CULTURES would be sent to the Wave:
Advanced placement and career tech courses require both semester 1 and semester 2 grades for credit earned to appear in the Wave. Therefore, advanced placement and career tech courses do not show credit in the Postsecondary report until after the grades are entered at the end of the academic year
