This article explains how Missouri schools will report co-teachers to MOSIS. Co-teaching is when there are multiple teachers in a classroom. The first teacher is a general education teacher responsible for the entire class, while the second teacher manages a few individual students. Both teachers have different state reporting requirements:
State Report | General education teacher | Special education teacher |
October Cycle - Course Assignment | Yes | Yes - with case load |
October Cycle - Student Assignment | Yes | No |
June Cycle - Student Course Completion | Yes | No |
For co-taught classes, there needs to be 2 classes for the same course within TeacherEase. The first section is assigned to the general education instructor, while the second section is assigned to the co-teacher, such as a paraprofessional. Both classes should be coded with the course delivery system of "Co-Teachers". For more information on how to create a class, please refer to this article.
If the co-teacher needs access to the regular class in order to see grades, they can be added to the regular class with a position type of 9999-Other-Not reported to state. To be able to select the 9999 position in the class, the co-teacher will need an additional employee position in the system of “9999 - not reported to state”.
To add an additional role to a employee:
- Go To Main > Employees - multi-view
- Select edit on the student
- Scroll to the MOSIS Educator School Data section at the bottom of the page
-
Select the blue
to the far right
- Select Position Type 9999-Other- Not reported to state
- Save
After creating this extra position code for the employee, edit the class and add the person as a non primary teacher.
