This article explains how Missouri schools will configure combined courses. Combined courses are when two classes are taught at the same time by the same teacher, anywhere in the district. This is reported by setting both classes with the same “combined course” code. The combined course code can be any number between 1 and 99.
For each combined course section, the Minutes Per Week value should be adjusted to a portion of the period minutes. For example, when 3 300-minute-per-week classes are combined, the minutes per week for each class should be set 100 so that when combined, the total is equal to the total minutes for class period, rather than the total minutes per class. This method prevents the MOSIS reporting from calculating minutes for a teacher that is more than the total amount of time spent.
To report combined courses:
- Go To Main > Classes/Sections
- Find the desired class and select edit
- Enter the same Combined Course code for each class taught at the same time, by the same teacher
- DESE accepts course code values 1,2,3.. thru 99
- Select the Minutes Per Week Override
- Enter the proportional calculated minutes
- Save
- Repeat the above for each class section taught by the same teacher at the same time
