This checklist is intended for Missouri schools setting up a summer academic year.
In Missouri summer is the start of a new academic year. For example if the 2023-24 year just ended, the summer academic year will be 2024-25 Summer. This also means, a 9th grade student attends summer school as a 10th grader.

We recommend basic schedule and attendance module setup, because enrollment in the summer is usually lower than in regular years. For the schedule, we recommend a bell schedule with a single lunch period. As for the attendance, we recommend using the self-contained attendance mode. Teachers will take period attendance once in the morning, typically in the first period, and the attendance admin imports these values to initiate daily attendance for students. During the day, the admin tracks students who leave early or come in late and updates the daily attendance value. This is far simpler than having to create complete schedules in every period and tracking attendance in each class.
