Deleting employees is a rare process in SchoolInsight Financials. To preserve historical records, it is impossible to delete any employee who has been on a payroll register. However, there are occasions, such as when an employee has accidentally been created twice or when an employee quit between being hired and actually starting employment, in which you may be able to delete someone.

When is it safe to delete an employee?
Deletion is permanent, and data cannot be recovered, so you should be absolutely certain that there is no important data before deleting.
Employees with lunch fees in SIS, discipline incidents in SIS, or any payroll data cannot be deleted unless the items associated with their account are individually deleted first.
Although some items, such as digital locker files and reports, will remain in the system even after deletion of the employee, many other pieces of data created by the employee, such as announcements or behavior logs, will be deleted if the employee is deleted.
If you delete an instructor while they are the only instructor on a class, then the class will be deleted as well. If you must delete an instructor, make sure to remove them from classes first and replace them with a different instructor.
Deleting SchoolInsight SIS roles
If you have determined it is safe to delete the employee, start by deleting any SIS roles they have (School District Admin, School Admin, Instructor).
- Go to the page that contains the role that needs to be deleted
- School District Admin Main > District Admins
- Admin Main > Admins
- Admin Main > Instructors
- Click Delete next to the role that needs to be deleted
- Delete
Deleting employees
After you have determined it is safe to delete the employee and all SIS roles are deleted, you can delete the employee in SchoolInsight Financials:
- Go to Financials Main > Human Resources > Employee - Single View
- Search for and select the employee’s name
- Click the trash can icon in the upper-right corner
- Check all roles
- Delete
Depending on the district’s settings, you may also be able to delete the employee in SchoolInsight SIS:
- Go to School District Admin Main > Employees - multi view
- Find the employee on the list
- Delete
- Check all roles
- Delete
Both above workflows result in the employee being deleted from both SchoolInsight SIS and SchoolInsight Financials.
