This article will help admins reset passwords for contacts who are unable to access the parent portal. Some parents forget their passwords and disable the reset password tool. In these cases, admins create a temporary password for them. After regaining access, parents should change the temporary password, and enable password resets for the future.
To create a temporary password for the parent:
- Go to Admin Main > Student - Single View
- Search for and select the student
- Click on the Contact/Family tab
- Click on the contact’s name
- Verify the email address
- Under contact properties click on edit email
- Enter a temporary password for the parent
- Save
Share the temporary password with the parent, and ask them to change it as soon as they log in.
To change the parent portal password:
- Go to Parent Main > Miscellaneous > My Account
- Click on update password
- Save
To enable future password reset:
- Go to Parent Main > Miscellaneous > My Account
- Click Edit
- Set if you forgot your password, can we send you a link by email to reset it? To yes
- Save
The parent should now be able to log in using their new password. If they forget the password again, they should be able to reset it by themselves following instructions from this KB: How do I reset my password?
