SchoolInsight uses academic years to separate past, present, and future data. Typically, in December or January, Admins will create a new academic year to start the yearly rollover process.
In addition to regular academic years, you can create summer years if students attend school in June or July. In Missouri, Summer starts the new year. For example, in June of 2024, Missouri students attend the 2024-45 Summer academic year.
District and school admins with the academic year permission can create new academic years. The role will determine where an admin can create the new year. Admins with district modify academic year permission can create years at the district level and at all buildings, while those with the “modify” permission at a specific building can only create the year at their own building.
To create an academic year:
- Go to Main > Academic Years
- Create Academic Year
- Select the Academic Year you wish to create
- (District Only) Set Availability of the new year to buildings in the district. The buildings that can be selected will be based on your admin roles
- Set the Status to future if the year is not the current academic year (for more information on academic year status, please refer to the following article)
- Choose to copy data from previous year
- Save
