Once your grading scales are set up, they need to be assigned to courses so that instructors can enter grades accordingly. An admin can assign grading scales to a single course or to multiple courses at once. However, in order to assign a grading scale to a course, the grading scale must first be made available to all schools at which the course is available.

Mass Assign Grading Scales
To assign a grading scale to multiple courses at once:
- Go to Main > Grading Scales > Assign to Courses
- Select the grading mode for these courses from the first drop-down menu
- Courses can use either traditional grades, standards-based grades, or both traditional and standards-based grades
- NB: SBL Users only have access to standards-based grade mode
- In the second drop-down menu, choose the grading scale you’d like to apply to the courses
- If you are using both grading modes on these courses, choose the appropriate scale in the third menu as well
- Check the boxes for the courses that should use this grading mode and the selected grading scale
- If all courses are using these settings, check the box at the top next to the “Course” label
- Save
Edit a course
To assign grading scales to a single course:
- Go to Main > Courses > Course - Single-View
- Pull up the desired course and select Edit
- If you are an SBL User: Choose your preferred Grading Scale and Save. If you are an Admin, continue to the yearly data tab for step 4.
- Select the Grading Scale tab at the top of the page
- For the academic year you are working in, choose a grading mode
- Courses can use either traditional grades, standards-based grades, or both traditional and standards-based grades
- In the second drop-down menu, choose the grading scale you’d like to apply to the courses
- If you are using both grading modes on this course, choose the appropriate scale in the third menu as well
- Save
