In SchoolInsight, admins can create summary grading periods to collect an overall grade from one or more grading periods. Grades from summary grading periods are typically reported as official grades for state reporting or transcript purposes. A semester one grading period that averages the grades from first and second quarter grading periods would be an example of a summary grading period.
Such a change is usually done before the beginning of the academic year. Adding summary grading periods after the year starts will affect state reporting in Illinois and Missouri. To create a summary grading period:
- Go to Main > Grading Periods
- Create Grading Period
- (District Only) Set Availability of the new summary grading period you wish to create. The buildings that can be selected will be based on your admin roles
- Select one of the available summary grading periods:
- Sem #1 (summary)
- Sem #2 (summary)
- Final (summary)
- Sort where this new grading period will appear
- When adding Sem #1, you want to sort it so that it appears in between the fall and spring grading periods.
- When adding Sem #2 or Final, you want to sort it to the end of the list
