Sometimes it is necessary to add days to the beginning or end of the academic calendar. For example, when next year’s calendar is created before it is known, when adding emergency days, or to fix mistakes. District and school admins can add days to calendars, if they have the academic year admin permission.
To add days to an academic calendar:
- Go to Main > Calendars
- Hover over the desired calendar and select the calendar days icon ()
- Select Add Calendar Days
- Enter the correct Start Date and End Date
- Save
After adding days to the calendar, it may be necessary to edit them to change their attendance type, start/end time, or to set the correct cycle day.
To edit the calendar to change the attendance type and school day start/end time:
- Go to Main > Calendars
- Hover over the desired calendar and select the calendar days icon ()
- Edit a month
- Set the correct attendance code type for each added day
- If the school start and/or end time will be different for a particular day, select set school time and enter the time
- Save
To assign cycle days (for schools using cycle days):
- Go to School Main > Scheduling > Cycle Days > Assign Cycle Days
- Set the appropriate cycle day for the added days
- Save
Finally, you will need to adjust the start of the first grading period, if days were added to the beginning of the calendar. Similarly, you will need to adjust the end of the last grading period, if days were added to the end of the calendar. This will guarantee that attendance will work for the added days.
To update the grading periods’ start or end dates:
- Go to Main > Grading Periods
- Edit the affected grading period
- Update the date
- Save
